The Sun

The only way I felt
Warmth
Was in your arms.
The only way I felt
Eased
Was the touching of our palms.
The dark side had took
Over me.
Control I once achieved was
Stolen away.
Unwillingly,
 I felt.
...
The only way I feel
Safe
Is in your essence.
And the only way I simply
Feel okay
Is in your presense.
The bright side has taken
Over me.
Control I once achieved
Melted away.
Willingly,
I feel.
Your sunshine has taken
Over me.
Control which I no longer
Need,
Has melted away.
Willingly,
I feel -
The power of the sun.

  1. Beautiful!

I do feel sorry for sun lovers who live in London! How do you cope?

This is a very thoughtful post, HM (Her Majesty?), with excellent use of music and photography to complement the ideas you explore in your poetry. You are definitely a very talented poet: your poetry is concise but dense, as well as expressive and well-structured. I also like the way that you link sunshine without with brightness within.

Thanks for being the first to publish on the blog!

  2. Well you have to admire the rain until the sunshine comes along!

Thank you, The image used below the poem is one of my own.
Although, I do not consider myself a talented poet, merely an enthusiast who enjoys to write sometimes during spare time. The best thing is how personal the writing is to me, yet might not have the same meaning for others. Ambiguity is a cliche in poetry, but it is sometimes necessary.

Also, I like the song choice suggested!

    1. Well, it would be immodest to consider yourself a talented poet - you should let others do that for you! The most important thing is to enjoy writing and express yourself through it. Your poetry is full of thought and meaning, and miles better than the embarrassing twaddle I used to write at your age.

Keep writing and please post anything else that you want to share.

  3. Wow HM, that poem really is amazing and the music you posted matches the words to your poem. I love it! I've never been able to write poetry myself, so I always enjoy reading other people's work and I definitely felt the passion in your words! Keep writing more, I want your own collection soon!
